In the language of India: <\/span><\/span><\/span>Dv\u0101da\u015bak\u0101ra-n\u0101ma-stotra<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em>
\nIn the language of Tibet: <\/span><\/span><\/span>mdzad pa bcu gnyis kyi tshul la bstod pa<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Homage to the Buddha \u015a\u0101kyamuni!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

You I shall praise, who first awakened the mind of enlightenment,
\nThen completed the accumulations of merit and wisdom,
\nAnd now in this age, through the vast sway of your actions,
\nHave become the lord and protector of living beings.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Homage to you who, having taught the gods,
\nKnew the time had come to tame the human world, and
\nDescending from the god realm like a great elephant,
\nForesaw the family of your birth and entered the womb of M\u0101y\u0101dev\u012b.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Homage to you, prince of the \u015a\u0101kyas, born after ten months
\nIn the auspicious Lumbin\u012b grove, where
\nBrahm\u0101 and Indra revered you, your supreme marks
\nProving you were destined to be enlightened.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Homage to you, lion among men, in all your youthful vigour,
\nDisplaying your prowess in the games at A\u1e45ga-Magadha,
\nWhere you triumphed over the proud contestants,
\nSo that not one could stand as your rival.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Homage to you, who, to comply with worldly convention,
\nAnd avoid all misdeeds, took on a queen and courtiers
\nAnd by acting with such skilful means,
\nSo you ruled the kingdom.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Homage to you, who saw that sa\u1e43s\u0101ra is wholly futile,
\nRenounced the life of a householder,
\nAnd, travelling through the sky,
\nOrdained yourself before the Vi\u015buddha St\u016bpa.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Homage to you, who, intent on persevering till enlightened,
\nFor six years practised austerities on the banks of the Naira\u00f1jan\u0101,
\nAnd taking diligence to its ultimate perfection,
\nAttained the supreme sam\u0101dhi.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Homage to you, who, seeking to make meaningful
\nAll your efforts, made throughout beginningless time, sat
\nUnmoving in the vajra posture beneath the <\/span><\/span><\/span>bodhi <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em>tree in Magadha
\nAnd awakened into true buddhahood, attaining perfect enlightenment.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Homage to you, who, in your compassion,
\nGazed at once upon living beings, then
\nTurned the Wheel of Dharma in sacred places like V\u0101r\u0101\u1e47as\u012b,
\nAnd established disciples in the three vehicles.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> Homage to you who destroyed evil-minded opponents,
\nBy defeating the six teachers of the <\/span><\/span><\/span>t\u012brthikas<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em>, Devadatta and the rest,
\nAs well as the m\u0101ras in V\u0101r\u0101\u1e47as\u012b;<\/span><\/span><\/span>[1]<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span>
\nYou were the mighty sage, victorious in battle.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Homage to you, who performed great miracles in \u015ar\u0101vast\u012b,
\nUnmatched in their splendour in all the three realms,
\nAnd through the offerings made by gods, humans and other beings,
\nCaused the teachings to prosper and increase.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Homage to you, who, to spur the lazy on to the Dharma,
\nLeft your body, though immortal and like a vajra,
\nAnd passed into parinirv\u0101\u1e47a
\nIn the pure abode of Ku\u015binagara.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Homage to you, who, to show that you had not in reality perished,
\nAnd so that beings of the future could gain merit,
\nEmanated a wealth of relics, and caused
\nYour remains to be divided into eight portions.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Through the merit of briefly praising in this way,
\nThe great acts of the lord who is master of the teachings,
\nMay the actions of all living beings
\nCome to equal those of the Sugata himself.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This concludes the praise of the twelve deeds composed by the great master \u0100rya N\u0101g\u0101rjuna.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
