The way to engage in the practice is as follows: <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">NAMO GURU MAN\u0303JUGOS\u0323A\u0304YA <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">Having respectfully prostrated to the lotus feet of<br \/>\nThe glorious guru, Lord Vajradhara,<br \/>\nI will explain an excellent method for purifying the vows <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">and commitments<br \/>\nIn accordance with the tantras and the teachings of <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\">the venerable guru. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i>Any individual who has received an initiation into a great man\u0323d\u0323ala belonging to one of the two higher classes of tantra and who continues to possess the tantric vow in their continuum, must review the root and branch commitments1 and vows daily. In particular, they must keep the commitments of the five families in six sessions. If this is not done, one incurs the fault of an unspeakable infraction.2 <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i>The <\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Vajra Peak Tantra <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i>states:3 <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>Do the recitation every day\u2014<br \/>\nThree times, day and night.<br \/>\nWhenever the yogi transgresses this,<br \/>\nHe incurs the fault of an unspeakable infraction. <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i>Because of this, bodhisattvas who wish to engage in the activities of secret mantra must keep the commitments of service, eating, and guarding as taught by the great Vajradhara. For extensive explanations of these, see the Omniscient Je Tsongkhapa\u2019s <\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Commentary on the Root Downfalls<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i>,4 his <\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Commentary on the Fifty Verses of Guru Devotion<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i>, the <\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Festival of the Play of Yoga<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i>, the <\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Six-Session Guru Yoga<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i>, and so forth.5 Here, the meaning of all these is formulated in verse so that beginners can conveniently engage in the practice of the six sessions. <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>[A1] I take refuge until I am enlightened<br \/>\nIn the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Supreme Assembly. By my merit of generosity and so forth,<br \/>\nMay I become a buddha in order to benefit all living beings. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>(3x) <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>This covers the refuge advice instructing one to take refuge three times during the day and three times at night. \/>\nAnd thus you perform the activities of the victorious ones <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: The first verse generates faith through remembering the good qualities of the guru and the latter verse, after remembering his kindness, generates respect. <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>[A14] All supreme and common attainments without exception Depend upon correct reliance on you, my protector. In brief, having considered and recalled the advantages of relying on a guru and the disadvantages of not doing so, [the above three verses] fulfill the commitment of correct reliance on the guru through both thought and action. The giving of your body and wealth is the giving of material goods and the giving of your roots of virtue is the gift of Dharma. These fulfill the remaining two commitments of Ratnasambhava. <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>At this point, if you have time, at least do a summary review of your commitments and vows in the following expanded manner. <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i>If you possess the pra\u0304timoks\u0323a vow of a fully ordained monk, first review these.9 <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>Then, review the eighteen bodhisattva root downfalls: <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>[B6] (1) Praising myself and criticizing others, (2) not giving Dharma or wealth, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>(3) Not accepting apologies, (4) abandoning the Maha\u0304ya\u0304na, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>(5) Stealing the property of the Three Jewels,<br \/>\n(6) abandoning Dharma, (7) taking away saffron robes, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>(8) Committing one of the five actions of immediate repercussion, (9) holding wrong views, (10) destroying towns and so forth, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>(11) Teaching emptiness to the untrained, (12) turning others away from complete enlightenment, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>(13) Abandoning the vows of pra\u0304timoks\u0323a, (14) criticizing the s\u0301ra\u0304vakas\u2019 vehicle, (15) telling a profound lie, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>(16) Taking the property of the Three Jewels, (17) creating bad rules, and (18) giving up bodhicitta. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>(1) Not seeing these as faults, (2) not giving up the wish to engage in them, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>(3) Doing them with delight and satisfaction, and (4) having no shame or consideration\u2014 <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>All four binding factors must be present to commit sixteen of these root downfalls, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>But for holding wrong views and giving up bodhicitta, they are not needed. I will guard myself from these eighteen root downfalls. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>Review the tantric root downfalls: <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>[B7] (1) Disparaging the guru, (2) disregarding the precepts, (3) Criticizing vajra brothers and sisters, (4) abandoning <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>love for living beings,<br \/>\n(5) Giving up wishing and engaging bodhicitta, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>(6) criticizing the Dharma of su\u0304tra or tantra, (7) Expounding secrets to those who are unripe, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>(8) treating the aggregates with contempt, (9) Abandoning emptiness, (10) being friendly to <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>the malicious,<br \/>\n(11) Not recollecting emptiness, (12) causing the faithful <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>to lose their faith,<br \/>\n(13) Not keeping the commitments, and (14) criticizing <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>women\u2014<br \/>\nI will guard myself from these fourteen root downfalls <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>even at the cost of my life. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>Review the branch commitments: <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>[B8] As branch commitments, I will abandon the four root negative actions, alcohol, and other negativities; <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>Rely on holy protector-gurus; honor friends; Maintain the ten virtues;<br \/>\nAbandon the causes for renouncing the Maha\u0304ya\u0304na, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>belittling deities, and stepping over holy objects\u2014 I will guard all commitments without exception. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: LydianBT;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>15 <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: LydianBT;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>16 <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>A summary of the infractions: <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>[B9] (1) Relying on an unqualified mudra\u0304, (2) engaging in union without the three discriminations, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>(3) Showing secret substances to an unsuitable vessel, (4) fighting or quarreling during a circle of tsog, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>(5) Giving inappropriate answers to the questions of the faithful, (6) staying more than seven days in the home of a s\u0301ra\u0304vaka, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>(7) Boasting that I am a yogi, although I am not, (8) teaching Dharma to the faithless, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>(9) Engaging in man\u0323d\u0323ala rites without having completed a nearing retreat and so forth, and (10) needlessly breaking the pra\u0304timoks\u0323a and bodhisattva vows\u2014 <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><b>I will genuinely guard myself from these as well as from the infractions that are in contradiction to the <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i><b>Fifty Verses of Guru Devotion. <\/b><\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>The vows of the uncommon commitments taught in the mother tantras: <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>[B10] (1) I will perform all activities with the left, (2) abandon denigrating [women] and (3) make offerings to them, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>(4) Abandon entering into meditative union with someone who is unqualified, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>(5) Not be separated from the view when engaging in union, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><b>(6) Maintain unchanging faith in the path of desire, (7) Not forsake the two mudra\u0304s,<br \/>\n(8) Strive principally in inner and outer methods, (9) Not release <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i><b>kunda<\/b><\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><b>,10 cultivate pure conduct, And (10) abandon disgust when taking bodhicitta. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>If one doesn\u2019t have the time to do the above review, one should at least cultivate a mindfulness and vigilance of the three sets of vows in the following way: <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>[B11] I will never transgress, even in my dreams,<br \/>\nThe most minor of the thoroughly pure trainings Of the Pra\u0304timoks\u0323a, Bodhisattva, or Vajra Vehicles. I will practice in accordance with the teachings of <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>the Victorious One. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>Briefly reflecting like this cultivates a mindfulness and vigilance of the three sets of vows and fulfills the vow to avoid improper behavior\u2014one of the three commitments of Vairocana concerning ethics. It also fulfills the commitment of Amoghasiddhi to fulfill all the vows. <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>[B12] By holding well, as the Victorious One intended,<br \/>\nAll the holy Dharmas of scripture and realization Gathered in the three vehicles and the four classes of <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>tantra without exception,<br \/>\nI will free all living beings through the appropriate methods. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i>Thinking [as described in the first three] lines fulfills the three commitments of the lotus [family of Amita\u0304bha], which are to fulfill the outer Dharmas of <\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">kriya\u0304 <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i>and <\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">carya <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i>tantra, the secret Dharmas of yoga tantra and highest yoga tantra, and the three su\u0304tra vehicles. This also fulfills [the commitments] of Vairocana to gather virtuous dharma. Thinking [as stated in the last line] fulfills the ethics of Vairocana\u2014that of working for the benefit of sentient beings. <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>It is said that one should do the six-session guru yoga in this way three times during the day and three times during the night. According to the recitation tradition of the instruction lineage, in order to perform it [three times] in succession, do as follows: <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>[In the first round] recite once from \u201cI take refuge until I am enlight- ened\u201d until \u201cPlease bless me to practice only that which pleases you.\u201d <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>Then [in the second round] again recite from \u201cI take refuge until I am enlightened\u201d until \u201cNever will I sully this flawless and pure family.\u201d Then recite from \u201cI bow to the lotus feet of the vajra-holder\u201d until \u201cPlease bless me to practice only that which pleases you.\u201d <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>Then [in the third round] again recite from \u201cI take refuge until I am enlightened\u201d until \u201cPlease bless me to practice only that which pleases you,\u201d [as in the second round above]. <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: LydianBT;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>17 <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: LydianBT;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>18 <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i>In the latter two rounds, the sets of verses beginning with \u201cI take refuge until I am enlightened\u201d and \u201cGurus, victorious ones, and your children, please listen to me\u201d only need to be recited once. Since you have already generated the guru in front of yourself, you do not need to recite the verse starting with \u201cIn the space before me on an enchanting jeweled throne\u201d and ending with \u201cthey become nondual.\u201d You also only need to recite the <\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Eight Lines of Praise <\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i>in the first round. <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i>[After completing the recitation of the above], the lines \u201cRequested in this way, my supreme guru comes to my crown\u2014<\/i><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\"><i>SAMA\u0304JAH\u0323<\/i><\/span>\u201d <span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><i>only need to be recited once. Then recite from \u201cOnce more he joyfully&#8230;.\u201d to \u201cI will free all living beings through the appropriate methods\u201d in succession three times. The review of the individual vows, however, only needs to be done in the first recitation. <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>Having done the above three times in succession, perform the following dedications and aspirational prayers: <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>[C1] \u00a0Through the force of the pure virtue that has come from this practice, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>In all my lives, may I never go beyond the boundaries Established by Lord Vajradhara<br \/>\nAnd may I complete the graduated path of the two stages. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>[C2] \u00a0In brief, through the accumulation of<br \/>\nHowever much pure virtue has been gathered here,<br \/>\nMay I quickly be reborn in the jewel treasury of S\u0301ambhala And then complete the stages of the highest path. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>[C3] \u00a0In all lives, may I never be parted from the sublime guru And always enjoy the glory of the Dharma.<br \/>\nHaving thoroughly completed the excellent qualities of <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>the grounds and paths,<br \/>\nMay I quickly attain the state of Vajradhara. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>Thus, seal the practice with dedications and aspirational prayers. However, if one such single verse is able to contain within it the nineteen commitments of the five families and so forth, this would be very astonishing indeed. <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>As this verse appears a little bit unsuitable to fulfill the requirement of performing the guru yoga, those practitioners of lower intelligence who are incapable of recitation and meditation and are unable to do the extensive version of the six-session guru yoga can use the following extremely abbreviated yet suitable way to fulfill the commitment to practice the six-session guru yoga composed by Ngulchu Jedrung Lozang Tenzin: <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: LydianBT;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>19 <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: LydianBT;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>20 <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: LydianBT;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><i>Abbreviated Version <\/i><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>From my heart, I take refuge in the Three Jewels.<br \/>\nI will free all living beings from suffering and set them in <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>permanent bliss.<br \/>\nFor this reason, in order to attain complete enlightenment, <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>I will generate bodhicitta<br \/>\nAnd then train in the conduct of the children of <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>the victorious ones. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>In the space before me on a throne, lotus, sun, and moon, Is my root guru, the all-pervading lord Vajradhara.<br \/>\nHe has a blue-colored body, holds a vajra and bell,<br \/>\nAnd embracing Vajradha\u0304tvi\u0304s\u0301vari\u0304, sports in innate bliss. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><b>His three places are marked with the three letters.<br \/>\nLight from the <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Helvetica;\"><b>HU\u0304M\u0323 <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><b>invites the wisdom beings\u2014they become <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>of one taste. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>I prostrate at the lotus feet of the vajra-holder<br \/>\nAnd present oceans of offering clouds of outer, inner, and <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>secret offerings;<br \/>\nThe mountain; the continents; a precious treasure vase; <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>the sun; and the moon<br \/>\nTogether with unsurpassable Samantabhadra offerings. <\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #990000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\"><span style=\"font-size: large;\"><b>All supreme and common attainments without exception Depend upon correct reliance on you, my protector. However, these days people are preoccupied with engaging in unimportant activities and do not even have time to recite the extensive version, and thus simply abandon the practice altogether. Some have very dull sense powers and some, being old and ill, are unable to read at all. It appears some are also unable to understand [these texts], and instead have to make do with seeking protection through being taught dha\u0304ran\u0323i\u0304s and mantras. Motivated by love, I composed this [abbreviated practice] in order to protect these people from vajra hell.
