Crucial Advice: A Complete Set of Instructions for the Bardos<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

At the feet of the sacred master, respectfully I pay homage!
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Although you have gained this life of freedom and advantage, it will not last,
\nSo keep in mind these instructions for the moment of death.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Now, during this intermediate period of the bardo of this life,
\nDecide, with complete certainty, that the wisdom of your own awareness is dharmak\u0101ya,
\nAnd sustaining the ongoing experience of its self-radiance, the meditation which is naturally clear,
\nEverything will only enhance naturally arising wisdom!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a><\/a> During the bardo of dying, when the four elements dissolve,
\nThere will be the illusory experiences of rising and falling, shaking, and haziness.[1]<\/a>
\nAnd the dissolution of earth, water, fire, wind and space.
\nThe sense faculties too will cease to function. At that time, remind yourself:
\n\u201cNow I am dying, but there is no need to fear.\u201d
\nExamine: \u201cWhat is death? Who is dying? Where does dying take place?\u201d
\nDeath is merely the return of borrowed elements.
\nIn the face of rigpa itself, there is no birth or death.
\nWithin the very form[2]<\/a> of the dharmak\u0101ya of primordial purity, the union of rigpa and emptiness,
\nExamine: \u201cWhat is death? Who is dying? Where does dying take place?\u201d
\nAs dying exists nowhere, it is absolutely unreal.
\nIn the experience of this, generate courage and confidence.
\nThe arising of rigpa is not obstructed in any way.
\nEarth, water, fire, wind and consciousness dissolve into space.
\nWhen space dissolves into pure luminosity,
\nThe six consciousnesses dissolve into the basis of all, the dharmadh\u0101tu,
\nAs awareness parts from the inanimate, there is an experience of pure awareness, devoid of phenomena.
\nSeparated from the ordinary mind, the great primordial purity of dharmak\u0101ya dawns.
\nThrough having recognized this here and now in training,
\nYou will be freed directly, in a single instant.
\nAnd gain the dharmak\u0101ya of\u00a0twofold purity<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This is how it dawns, but should you fail to recognize it,
\nThereafter, clear light appearances\u2014manifestations of the ground\u2014will arise.
\nSounds, lights and colours, peaceful and wrathful ones filling the sky,
\nBy recognizing all these appearances as rigpa’s self-radiance,
\nYou will be freed in the original state, and attain awakening.
\nIt is crucial, therefore, to recognize everything as intrinsic radiance.
\nThrough recognizing the essence, you will gain enlightenment.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This is how it all arises, but should you fail to recognize it,
\nThe dream-like bardo of becoming will dawn.
\nAt that time, by recalling a pure land,
\nAnd taking refuge in the lama and the yidam deity,
\nSome will find freedom in a pure buddha paradise,
\nAnd some will gain the\u00a0seven qualities of birth in a higher realm<\/a>,
\nAnd be assured of gaining liberation in the next life.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, this most profound essence of instructions,
\nWhich is like placing buddhahood in the palm of the hand,
\nWill delight the fortunate children of my heart.
\nThis the yogin of the Natural Great Perfection,
\nLongchen Rabjam Zangpo, has set down.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Through this virtue, may all beings, equal to the vastness of space,
\nBecome fully enlightened within the primordial realm!<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

This complete instruction for the dying, a secret, unsurpassed introduction, was composed by the heir of the victorious ones, Drim\u00e9 \u00d6zer, in response to the requests of devoted disciples, in the isolated hermitage of Khothang Rinchen Ling.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
