La meditazione agisce davvero sul cervello.
Nov 30th, 2012 by admin

Read the rest of this entry »

Gonpo Tsering, 19, dies after setting himself on fire in Achok, Tsoe, in north-eastern Tibet (China’s Gansu Province) on Saturday, 10 November 2012

DHARAMSHALA: The Central Tibetan Administration in Dharamsala organised a grand prayer service on Sunday, as fresh reports coming out of Tibet say a Tibetan artist burned himself to death in north-eastern Tibet calling for freedom and return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Gonpo Tsering, 19, set fire to himself on fire around 2 pm in Lushoe village in Tsoe county (China’s Hezou in Gansu province) in north-eastern Tibet on Saturday. As flames consumed his body, he raised slogans demanding freedom for Tibetans and return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to his homeland. Local Tibetans tried to extinguished the flames, but Gonpo succumbed to his injuries two hours later. His body was taken to his native Kay village, where local Tibetans organised a special prayer service. Gonpo Tsering studied at high school in Tsoe county, during which he received awards for best student and excellence in studies.  Local Tibetans describe him as very friendly with moral demeanour. Since he could not continue his school education, he was involved in an artistic work to educate people in his locality since this June.

Addressing a grand prayer service for self-immolators at the main temple here today, Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay reiterated the Central Tibetan Administration’s grave concern over the prevailing grim situation in Tibet, adding that the Tibetan people are passing through one of saddest periods in its history. He said the escalating number of self-immolations by Tibetans reflects how repressive and unbearable is the situation under the Chinese rule. Read the rest of this entry »

Non lasciamo il Tibet solo
Nov 10th, 2012 by admin

Local Tibetans, including monks, carried his body to Rongwo monastery where they prayed for him. Later in the afternoon, thousands of local Tibetans gathered for his funeral at a crematorium near the monastery. A photo shows a large number of monks and lay people gather around the man’s burned body wrapped in Tibetan traditional scarves in front of a photo of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Read the rest of this entry »

His Holiness the Dalai Lama Attends the Inauguration of the 80th Sivagiri Annual Pilgrimage in Kerala

Varkala, Kerala, India, 24 November 2012 – His Holiness the Dalai Lama began the day with an interview at his hotel with Mr PP James for Doordarshan. Asked what he thought of Indian spirituality, he replied,

I always say that India is a living example of the possibility of all religions living together in harmony; an example that others could learn from. And for us Tibetans, India is our guru. One great master observed that although Tibet was known as the Land of Snows, until the light of wisdom arrived from India, Tibet remained in the dark.” Concerning his regard for Kerala, he said, “Don’t you have 100% literacy here? Wonderful! When I first visited I was impressed to see even barefoot people reading newspapers.” Read the rest of this entry »

TCHRD releases report on enforced disappearances in Tibet

This heinous practice is not permitted under any circumstances. No exceptional circumstances whatsoever may be invoked to justify an enforced disappearance.” Jeremy Sarkin, UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances (Nov. 2011) [TCHRD]

Imagine a close loved one being taken into custody, held incommunicado for days, weeks, or even years, without any contact or communication with you or other family members. Imagine the mental anguish and torment of not knowing where they are, if they are being tortured or have been killed. In this respect, enforced disappearances have a “doubly paralyzing impact,” not only on the victims, but also on their loved ones who live in a constant state of anxiety and fear about the fate of the disappeared person. Today, TCHRD, on the eve of the 98th session of the UN Working Group on Enforced and Involuntary Disappearances, releases an introductory report and analysis on enforced disappearances in Tibet. Enforced disappearance is a serious international crime that violates multiple human rights and fundamental freedoms enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other major international human rights instruments.  Yet such disappearances are prevalent and commonplace for Tibetans living under Chinese rule. While there is a growing movement to ban enforced disappearances in any form or justification, Read the rest of this entry »

Read the rest of this entry »

Nov 1st, 2012 by admin

His Holiness the Dalai Lama: ‘Because of the self-cherishing attitude we have, we need also to think of others; and of liberating all sentient beings. If you poke an insect, it will fly away. This shows that it does not want suffering. We should try to use our human minds to understand the true nature of things'.
