The Central Tibetan Administration had issued a white paper on the underlying causes of the increasing number of self-immolations that are currently engulfing Tibet.

The reason lies in China’s massive policy failure in Tibet over the course of more than 60 years of its rule. The revolution that is brewing in Tibet is driven by political repression, cultural assimilation, social discrimination, economic marginalisation and environmental destruction,” noted the white paper titled “Why Tibet is burning” released this January. Dharamshala: Kunchok Sonam, an 18-year-old monk of Thangkor Sogtsang monastery in Zoege county in Ngaba region in eastern Tibet, has died after setting himself on fire, media reports and human rights group say. Kunchok Sonam set himself on fire around 8:00 am (local time) Saturday (20 July) while returning from the monastery after a daily prayer service. Il 6 luglio un monaco tibetano è morto e almeno altri sei sono rimasti gravemente feriti dopo che le forze di sicurezza cinesi hanno aperto il fuoco su alcune centinaia di tibetani riuniti in preghiera sulla montagna sacra di Machen Pomra per celebrare il 78° compleanno del Dalai Lama. Mundgod, Karnataka, India, 18 July 2013 (Deccan Herald) – Amidst tight security, Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama arrived in Mundgod Tibetan settlement from Shimoga by road, on Wednesday. He was given a warm welcome by the district administration. Deputy Commissioner Imkongla Zamir greeted the Tibetan leader with a bouquet near Sanavalli located in the border of Mundgod taluk.
SP R. Dileep, Assistant Commissioner Raju Mogveer, Sirsi DySP N.D. Birje, Tahsildar R.B. Patil, Basavaraj Melvanki, Panchayatraj Engineer R.H. Kulkarni and others accompanied the deputy commissioner.
Enthusiasm at camps. Right from morning, Tibetan Buddhist monks, women and children were standing in a line from Doddakere in Mundgod to Camp No. 6, to welcome the Dalai Lama in a traditional way. Despite the drizzle, they enthusiastically waited for the Dalai Lama with a white cloth, flowers and ‘Dhoop Batti’. While visually impaired students welcomes the Dalai Lama with national flags near the Ammaji tank in Mundgod, Tibetan women accorded a grand reception clad in traditional attires. At Camp No. 3, the students and teachers of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 3 gave a musical welcome to the Buddhist leader.

For the first time, welcome arches had been installed right from Mundgod to the settlement camps, to greet the Buddhist leader. lzrFesta FPMT dal 26 al 28 luglio presso l’Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa di Pomaia PI http://www.iltk.org/it/ , dove ci ritroveremo per conoscerci e condividere quelli che sono i principi ispiratori della F.P.M.T. partendo da ciò che più ci unisce: l’esempio e la devozione per Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche.

Saranno tre giorni divisi tra ricordi del passato, esperienze del presente e idee e progetti per il futuro in cui diverse generazioni di praticanti dei diversi Centri e dei gruppi di studio italiani si riuniranno in un clima di festa per celebrare la grande famiglia dell’FPMT, ricordando la visione di Lama Yeshe, l’attività senza sosta al servizio di tutti gli esseri della nostra guida spirituale Lama Zopa Rinpoche e di tutti i Maestri che ispirano la nostra pratica. Sarà l’occasione per rafforzare la determinazione che ci spinge ad essere di servizio nei Centri per il beneficio di molte persone e in questo saremo aiutati dal Ven. Geshe Tenzin Tenphel che con gioia ha accolto l’invito a stare con tutti noi nel corso del week end e a dare una sessione di insegnamenti proprio sul tema della motivazione.

Sarà soprattutto un’opportunità per stare assieme, conoscere le esperienze di tante persone che come noi si sono ritrovati ispirati dall’insegnamento del Buddha giunto a noi attraverso l’Amorevolezza dei nostri Maestri e grazie a un’organizzazione che nel corso di quasi quarant’anni ha consentito l’accesso ai tesori di saggezza del Buddhadharma a migliaia e migliaia di persone.

Faremo sentire, anche se da lontano, la riconoscenza verso la nostra guida Lama Zopa Rinpoche cercando di ripagare, almeno in parte, la sua infinita gentilezza. Read the rest of this entry »

Bodhgaya: Nine blasts in Mahabodhi temple: two injured. What was expected to happen it happened. Nove esplosioni a Bodhgaya, quattro nel tempio principale. Un monaco gravemente ferito.

Il luogo è meta di pellegrinaggio buddista da tutto il mondo, qui è custodito l’albero sotto cui Buddha ebbe “l’illuminazione”. Diverse esplosioni sono avvenute a Bodh Gaya, nel tempio sacro buddista. Secondo la polizia, vi sarebbero due feriti. Il tempio è noto per l’albero sacro dove si sarebbe sempre seduto Buddha e che è meta di pellegrinaggio da tutto il mondo. Il tempio di Bodh Gaya è uno dei più importanti luoghi sacri della religione buddista.  Bodh Gaya fu il luogo dove Siddhartha Gautama, verso il 530 a.C., raggiunse l’illuminazione e divenne il Buddha storico sotto un ficus religiosa. Bodh Gaya divenne luogo di pellegrinaggio subito dopo la morte del Buddha. feriti sono due monaci buddisti. “Sei esplosioni di debole potenza si sono verificate stamattina, quattro all’interno e due all’esterno del tempio”, precisa l’ufficiale di polizia Ravinder Kumar. Un settimo ordigno è stato disinnescato vicino l’enorme statua di Buddha, alta 24 metri.
