Lug 31st, 2020 by admin

29 luglio 2020.

Read the rest of this entry »

His Holiness the Dalai Lama: Compassion, the Answer in a Troubled World
Lug 30th, 2020 by admin

His Holiness the Dalai Lama: “If the education system fostered inner peace, compassion and non-violence, students would learn how to achieve peace of mind. This is what is required if we are to fulfill the goal of a genuinely peaceful and demilitarized world.”

July 29, 2020. Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP – This morning His Holiness the Dalai Lama was invited to speak to students from the Law Faculty of Delhi University; Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi; Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi; the National Institute of Technology, Yupia, Arunachal Pradesh and Chapra Central School, Saran, Bihar.

Prof Raman Mittal of the Delhi University Law Faculty gave a short welcome address. He acknowledged that the world is going through difficult times during which everyone has been reminded of the fragility of life. Forced to turn inward, they sought His Holiness’s guidance with regard to compassion and hope.

When we face problems and difficulties,” His Holiness responded, “I find it useful to rely on the 8th century Nalanda master, Shantideva’s advice. Analyse the problem that confronts you. Examine whether it can be overcome. If it can, there’s no need to worry. Put the solution into effect. If the problem can’t be overcome, worrying about it won’t help. I find this to be a very realistic assessment. Read the rest of this entry »

Sua Santità il Dalai Lama: La Compassione nella Pratica Medica
Lug 24th, 2020 by admin

Anupam Sibal, presidente della Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO) e dal dott. Akshay Anand, Professore, PGIMER, Chandigarh, in rappresentanza dell’India Yoga Association.

Read the rest of this entry »

His Holiness the Dalai Lama: Compassion in Medical Practice
Lug 24th, 2020 by admin

His Holiness the Dalai Lama: “If you focus narrowly on the problem as you see it, you might well lose hope, but if you look at it from a wider perspective, it’s easier to be more positive.

July 23, 2020. Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – Once His Holiness the Dalai Lama had taken his seat this morning, he was welcomed to today’s virtual conversation by Dr Anupam Sibal, President of the Global Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GAPIO) and Dr Akshay Anand, Professor, PGIMER, Chandigarh, representing the India Yoga Association. Dr Sibal suggested that due to the stresses of the current pandemic healers need compassion. Dr Anand added that many people working in the medical field around the world would be joining the session. “Thank you,” His Holiness responded, “It’s indeed a great honour for me too to hold discussions with scholars and professionals like you. I learn a great deal from such exchanges. A renowned Tibetan scholar once observed that until we attain Buddhahood, each of us is a student ready to learn something new.

Now, as far as health is concerned, it relates not only to our bodies, but also to our minds and emotions. The practice of compassion and altruism brings us peace of mind. Even if we face trouble or someone is critical of something we’ve said or done, compassion enables us to feel grateful to them. Compassion is the best counter measure to anger, anxiety and so forth. 3 – Sua Santità il Dalai Lama spiega l’‘Ingresso nella Via di Mezzo” di Chandrakirti
Lug 20th, 2020 by admin

“ Read the rest of this entry »

His Holiness the Dalai Lama explains Chandrakirti’s ‘Entering into the Middle Way” – 3
Lug 20th, 2020 by admin

His Holiness the Dalai Lama: How to deal with difficulties in times of distress? It’s important either not to feel demoralized and to be determined to follow what the Buddha taught, thinking, ‘When else will I be able to pursue the teaching if not now?’ The crucial point is to integrate the teachings within yourself.”

July 19, 2020. Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – This morning, His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived, smiled, waved and took his seat. He warmly greeted members of the Nalanda Shiksha watching and listening to him by video link, “Good morning. As I’ve already mentioned, the very purpose of the dharma, like all religious traditions, is to reduce suffering and bring about happiness. As human beings we all depend on compassion from the moment we’re born. Since all religious traditions involve human beings, they all teach about loving-kindness, self-discipline, tolerance and so forth.

One of the things that distinguishes the Indian traditions is that they include thorough explanations of the workings of the mind and emotions. The Buddha was an Indian and, after learning existing traditions, he engaged in six years of austere practice, fasting and thinking deeply. As a result, he developed a view of reality. Soon after his enlightenment, he is said to have expressed these thoughts — ‘Profound and peaceful, free from elaboration, uncompounded clear light, I have found a nectar-like Dharma. Yet if I were to teach it, there is no-one who would understand what I said; therefore, I shall remain silent here in the forest.’ Read the rest of this entry »

2 – Sua Santità il Dalai Lama spiega l’‘Ingresso nella Via di Mezzo” di Chandrakirti
Lug 19th, 2020 by admin

Read the rest of this entry »

His Holiness the Dalai Lama explains Chandrakirti’s ‘Entering into the Middle Way” – 2
Lug 19th, 2020 by admin

His Holiness the Dalai Lama: “If someone criticizes you and you just smile, it makes them pause. Patience creates positive karma that will have good effects in the next life. It has practical benefits in ordinary life.

July 18, 2020. Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – Once again, this morning, His Holiness the Dalai Lama entered the room smiling. He waved to people he recognized on the screens in front of him and sat down. He lost no time in resuming his explanation of Chandrakirti’s ‘Entering into the Middle Way’. “As I’ve already stated, Chandrakirti was a great philosopher and a great practitioner. Like Nagarjuna he’s no longer with us, since human beings live, at most, about a hundred years. However, their writings have survived for more than a thousand years. And among these works, ‘Entering into the Middle Way’ is particularly important.

I often point out that this country, India, has produced a great number of thinkers and philosophers. They are exemplified by the wonderful Seventeen Masters of Nalanda, each of whom was very sharp. These Indian masters’ writings can be examined from a secular, academic point of view and combined with a modern scientific outlook. What they wrote about is relevant here in the 21st century because they discuss the human mind and emotions and how to cultivate peace of mind. Each of these topics can be examined in an academic way. Read the rest of this entry »

His Holiness the Dalai Lama explains Chandrakirti’s ‘Entering into the Middle Way” – 1
Lug 18th, 2020 by admin

His Holiness the Dalai Lama: “I’ve been thinking about these things for a long time, emptiness for 60 years and bodhichitta for about 50 years. Understanding them takes time, but you have to keep up your analysis. It is possible to reduce the afflictive emotions. It’s not easy, but if you make the effort you can gradually bring about change, which will give rise to peace of mind.
“We all have the seed of Buddhahood within us. The emptiness of the mind of the Buddha and the mind of sentient beings is the same.”

July 17, 2020. Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – When His Holiness the Dalai Lama entered the room this morning, he scrutinized the faces on the screens before him, recognised several of them, waved to them, laughed and took his seat.

This morning’s moderator, Suresh Jindal, wished His Holiness good morning on behalf of the Indian Sangha. He also thanked him for accepting their request to teach.

In spite of my age, my being 85 years old,” His Holiness began, “there’s nothing wrong with my physical condition. This is mainly because my mind is at peace. I have no anxiety and I’m inspired by verses by Shantideva:

And now as long as space endures,
As long as there are beings to be found,
May I continue likewise to remain
To drive away the sorrows of the world.

Just like the earth and space itself
And all the other mighty elements,
For boundless multitudes of beings
May I always be the ground of life, the source of varied sustenance.

In order to be of service to others, not only on a physical level, but also on the level of mental peace, I am determined to live another 15 or 20 years. Read the rest of this entry »

Sua Santità il Dalai Lama in conversazione con Gaur Gopal Das
Lug 15th, 2020 by admin

14 luglio 2020. His Holiness the Dalai Lama In Conversation with Gaur Gopal Das
Lug 14th, 2020 by admin

His Holiness the Dalai Lama: “I think of altruism the moment I wake up, so it’s an essential part of my daily practice.”

July 14, 2020 Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – This morning His Holiness the Dalai Lama was joined in conversation via video link by Gaur Gopal Das, a former Hewlett Packard engineer who is now a monk belonging to the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). As the link came online, Das offered His Holiness, “Namaste” and he replied, “I’m ready.”

After stating how honoured he was to take part in the conversation, Das gave a short introduction to His Holiness. He concluded by noting that we are all shaped by our teachers and our education and invited His Holiness to say something about his own upbringing.

I’m very happy. It’s also an honour for me,” His Holiness began, “to have this discussion with you, an Indian, and, if I may say so, a typical Indian. I feel that modern India places too much emphasis on material goals. For more than 3000 years, India has upheld the practice of ‘ahimsa’ and ‘karuna’. And yet these qualities are somewhat neglected today. Read the rest of this entry »

Lug 12th, 2020 by admin

Il futuro è ancora nelle nostre mani, quindi dobbiamo pensare all’ecologia a livello globale.”

BY DALAI LAMA , TIME JULY 10, 2020

Noi esseri umani abbiamo queste menti meravigliose e brillanti. Read the rest of this entry »

H.H. Dalai Lama: Seven billion people ‘need a sense of oneness’
Lug 12th, 2020 by admin

The Dalai Lama: “When we face some tragic situation, it reveals the deeper human values of compassion. Usually people don’t think about these deeper human values, but when they see their human brothers and sisters suffering the response comes automatically.”

The leader of Tibetan Buddhism sees reasons for optimism even in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. People are helping one another, he tells the BBC’s Justin Rowlatt, and if seven billion people on Earth develop “a sense of oneness” they may yet unite to solve the problem of climate change.

The first time I met the Dalai Lama he tweaked my cheek.

It is pretty unusual to have your cheek tweaked by anyone, let alone by a man regarded as a living god by many of his followers.

But the Dalai Lama is a playful man who likes to tease his interviewers.

Now, of course, such a gesture would be unthinkable – our latest encounter comes via the sterile interface of a video conferencing app.

The Dalai Lama appears promptly and sits in front of the camera, smiling and adjusting his burgundy robes. Read the rest of this entry »

Lug 12th, 2020 by admin

È onorato di aver illustrato The Seed of Compassion.

Read the rest of this entry »

H.H. Dalai Lama: We Must Act as One to Preserve Our World
Lug 11th, 2020 by admin

H.H. the Dalai Lama: “Hours, minutes and seconds: time never stands still. We also are part of that nature. The past is important, but already past. The future is still in our hands, so we must think about ecology at the global level.”

BY DALAI LAMA , TIME JULY 10, 2020

This planet is our only home. Environmental experts say that over the next few decades, global warming will reach such a level that many water resources will go dry. So ecology and combatting global warming are very important.

For example, my country, Tibet, is the ultimate source of water in Asia. Rivers including Pakistan’s Indus, India’s Ganges and Brahmaputra, China’s Yellow River, as well as the Mekong, flow from Tibet’s plateau. So we should pay more attention to the preservation of Tibetan ecology. This is not only for the interest of 6 million Tibetans but all people in this region. In the past, when I was flying over Afghanistan, there were clear signs that what used to be lakes and streams were already dry. I feel that Tibet also may become like that soon. Regarding Tibet’s political matters, I have already retired. But regarding Tibet’s ecology and very rich culture, I’m fully committed.

We human beings have these marvelous, brilliant minds. But we are also the biggest troublemakers on the planet. Now we should utilize our brains with compassion, and a sense of concern. This is why one of my commitments is promotion of deeper human values. Read the rest of this entry »

Lug 10th, 2020 by admin

The Dalai Lama: The Responsibility to Fight Racial Injustice Lies With the People
Lug 10th, 2020 by admin

The Dalai Lama: “After one year, two year, maybe people … will develop oneness of human being, Not the concept of ‘we and they’ … That kind of thinking is backward. We should see a problem and rush to help. That’s what I feel.”

BY TIME STAFF JULY 9, 2020

Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama says that each “individual” must ultimately take responsibility for fighting systemic racism in modern society.

Speaking at Thursday’s TIME100 Talks about the mass protests that have erupted across the U.S. and world sparked by the police killing of unarmed Black man George Floyd, Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, said that, “ultimately people, the public, have the power to decide.”

Firstly, people should think more wisely, with more open mind,” he said. “So the government should take the public’s view, that’s very important.”

The feudal system is in the past, [when] a few people decided … Today is the democratic period.”

Speaking from his home in the northern Indian town of Dharamshala, the Dalai Lama also discussed recent tensions at India’s border with China, where at least 20 soldiers died in skirmishes last month. Read the rest of this entry »

His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Conversation with Members of the Metropolitan Police
Lug 9th, 2020 by admin

His Holiness the Dalai Lama: How to maintain hope in these difficult times? All our physical and verbal actions relate to our mental actions. Therefore, if you have a good motivation and a sense of concern for others’ well-being, whatever steps you take will be beneficial.”

July 8, 2020. Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – When His Holiness the Dalai Lama saw the faces of an array of police officers and staff of the Metropolitan Police on the screens before him this morning, he waved and greeted them warmly, “Hello, hello, hello”. Once he was settled in his seat, he remarked that while he’s used to getting up at 3.30 in the morning and having his breakfast at 5.30, they were probably not accustomed to being up so early with empty stomachs.

Moderator of the conversation, Ms Brin Deol, asked if His Holiness if he’d had a good birthday.

Yes,” he replied, “but I feel each day is like a birthday. What’s important is your mental attitude. If you have a peaceful mind, every morning is like a birthday morning.”

Dr Kumanga Andrahennadi of the Centre for the Advanced Learning of Mindfulness (CALM) explained that for this special occasion they had organized 1000 police officers, staff and special guests to listen to what His Holiness had to say about compassion. She said they were truly grateful. Read the rest of this entry »

Lug 8th, 2020 by admin

Lug 7th, 2020 by admin

Dalai Lama e Daniel J. Levitin, neuroscienziato,

Read the rest of this entry »

His Holiness the Dalai Lama thanks us for the birthday greetings!
Lug 7th, 2020 by admin

From the Private Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, India, we received this very welcome letter of thanks for the good wishes we sent to His Holiness for his 85th birthday!

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I would like to thank you all for your greetings on the occasion of my 85th birthday, as well as those who took part in celebrating the day in many parts of the world. I am touched by your affection.

I am in good health and look forward to live long to continue being of some service to humanity.

In the world in which we live today, nations are no longer isolated and self-sufficient as they once were. We have all become much more interdependent; therefore, there is a need to be even more aware of the oneness of humanity. The interests of others are our own. Climate change and the current pandemic, which threaten us all, are challenges that teach us that we must work together, making a concerted effort to reach our common goal of a more caring and more peaceful world.

With my prayers and good wishes,

Dalai Lama

Sua Santità il Dalai Lama: l’Addestramento Mentale
Lug 6th, 2020 by admin

Acqua, fuoco, vento, erbe e foreste selvagge.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama: A Short Teaching on Mind Training
Lug 6th, 2020 by admin

His Holiness the Dalai Lama: “The way to transform our impure body, speech and mind is to employ the awakening mind of bodhichitta represented in the mantra by ‘mani’, or a jewel, and wisdom represented by ‘padme’ or a lotus. The syllable ‘hung’ at the end represents the combination of bodhichitta and wisdom.

July 5, 2020. Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India – A group of friends gathered in Taiwan this morning to celebrate His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 85th birthday tomorrow. He conceded to their request that he give a short teaching to mark the occasion. Representatives of the Taiwanese hosts were still introducing the event in Chinese when His Holiness first entered the room. Once he had sat down, he could see on the screens in front of him many of the one thousand people in the audience waving and smiling at him. He laughed and waved back.

So, today you’ve organized this event and requested me to teach,” he told them. “Since I first visited Taiwan, you have all been close to my heart. I think of many of you as old friends and you remain constantly in my mind. Today, I’ll explain Geshé Langri Tangpa’s ‘Eight Verses for Training the Mind’. It’s a short text focussed on the awakening mind of bodhichitta that has its source in Nagarjuna’s ‘Precious Garland’. Towards the end of that work are twenty verses dealing with bodhichitta. They conclude with the following:

May I always be an object of enjoyment
For all sentient beings according to their wish
And without interference, as are the earth,
Water, fire, wind, herbs, and wild forests.
