Read the rest of this entry »

Read the rest of this entry »

Chinese leaders must seek truth from facts on Tibet: His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

MILAN: His Holiness the Dalai Lama told a television interviewer in Italy that the Chinese authorities must seek truth from facts as recommended by their paramount leader Deng Xiaoping and investigate the underlying causes behind the tragic self-immolations of Tibetans.

When asked for comment about the series of self-immolations that have lately taken place in Tibet, His Holiness said that due to the politically sensitive nature of the issue he prefers to keep silent. Read the rest of this entry »

His Holiness the Dalai Lama from Matera to Milan

Milan, Italy, 26 June 2012 – Betty Williams, with her sister, daughter and grand-daughter, were ready to bid His Holiness farewell as he made an early departure from Matera this morning. Leaving behind the hot, dry land of the south, with its acres of olive and citrus trees, and heading for the greener, but also more industrialized north of Italy he flew to Milan. On arrival he drove directly to City Hall for a meeting with the Mayor of Milan Giuliani Pisapia, followed by an opportunity to address members of the City Council in the Council Chamber. He acknowledged those who spoke before him and greeted the Council: Read the rest of this entry »

Dharamsala, 26 giugno 2012.

Read the rest of this entry »

Read the rest of this entry »

Consoling in Mirandola and Encouraging in Matera

Matera, Italy, 24 June 2012 – Under a damp, grey sky His Holiness was given a warm send off from Inverness early this morning, and then flew across the Channel, across Northern Europe, over the Alps to Bologna, Italy. From there he drove to Mirandola, the city in the Province of Modena that was struck by a powerful earthquake when he was last in Italy just over a month ago. Churches and factories collapsed, 17 people were killed, 200 were injured and 14,000 were made homeless. His Holiness wished to come and console the people who were affected and express his solidarity with them.

Inverness Gives His Holiness the Dalai Lama a Warm Welcome

Inverness, Scotland, UK, 23 June 2012 – A beautiful drive along the River Tay into the Highlands took His Holiness from Dundee to Inverness today, making a short stop at Blair Castle on the way.  After lunch, he gave an interview to the International Network of Street Papers, publishers of the magazine known in Britain as The Big Issue, but whose material appears in 122 publications, in 40 countries, in 24 languages. He said that homelessness is a big problem, because it means you have no base from which to conduct your life. However, it is human nature to help others when they are facing difficulties. He said. Regarding the issue of Tibet, he said, he observed that totalitarian regimes like China’s have for several decades depended far too much on cruelty, so fear and distrust are part of their atmosphere. This is why they try to conceal reality. The 1.3 billion Chinese have a right to know the reality of their situation and they have the ability on that basis to judge right from wrong. A Busy Day in Scotland of H.H. the Dalai Lama
Giu 22nd, 2012 by admin

2012_06_22_scotland_n04A Busy Day in Scotland of His Holiness the Dalai Lama

Dundee, Scotland, 22 June 2012 – “Good morning, I feel very fresh today, last night I had enough sleep, a good nine hours! And today my blood pressure is good, which must be a blessing of being in Scotland. So I’m happy to be here on my fifth visit,” was how His Holiness opened his remarks before a meeting of Members of the Scottish Parliament Cross Party Group on Tibet and members of the Tibetan community in Scotland in the Signet Library.

In today’s interdependent world, to take care of ourselves we have to take care of everyone else too. Since significant material development began about three centuries ago, many people have been brought up in the context of material values with very little attention paid to inner values. We are biologically configured to respond and show others affection, so when we are subject to fear or strong anger our lives become unhappy. Promoting human happiness is one of His Holiness’s commitments, while actively working to encouraging inter-religious harmony is another. Read the rest of this entry »

Su questo ennesimo, avvilente episodio l’Associazione Italia-Tibet ha diramanto il seguente comunicato stampa: Read the rest of this entry »

Read the rest of this entry »

London, England, 20 June 2012 – “Brothers and sisters, I am happy to have this opportunity to talk to you today. And when such a chance arises, I always consider myself to be another human being, just like you. We 7 billion human beings are the same physically, mentally and emotionally. Some of us have different coloured hair, a bigger or smaller nose, but these are secondary differences. What unites us is that we all want to be happy and none of us wants to be sad. Not one of us starts their day thinking, ‘I hope I face problems, today.’ Indeed, everyone has a right to a happy life.”

His Holiness was speaking at the London School of Economics at an event hosted jointly by the LSE, the Frederick Bonnart Braunthal Trust, Matrix Chambers and the Sigrid Rausing Trust on the theme Resisting Intolerance: an ethical and global challenge. He spoke about how people create problems without meaning to, because they don’t look ahead and take a long term view. Examples include the crisis in the global economy, climate change and the gap between rich and poor. These occur because we have not applied our wonderful human intelligence, but looked instead for immediate gratification. Read the rest of this entry »

A Day of Meetings and Talks in London

After more than half an hour’s close conversation, during which His Holiness told her that just as her late father had shown great dedication, he was confident that she too would be of great service to humanity, he wished her every success in fulfilling her life’s goals. He also said he looked forward to meeting her again. Mind Training and Wisdom in Manchester

London, England, 18 June 2012 – His Holiness the Dalai Lama was visited this morning by his old friend Laurence Freeman, a Benedictine monk, who has been active in promoting Christian meditation.

His Holiness previously participated in the Way of Peace with him, and they have meditated together. The two of them share a strong commitment to encouraging and engaging in inter-religious dialogue.

Subsequently, His Holiness returned to the Manchester Arena to resume the Dharma teaching he began yesterday. Prior to that, the Heart Sutra was recited in Sanskrit by French scholar Sofia Stril-Rever.

His Holiness started by quoting the final stanza of Nagarjuna’s Fundamental Treatise on Wisdom, which he said he recites as he wakes up every day. Read the rest of this entry »

Buddhist Teachings and Public Talk in Manchester

Manchester, England, 17 June 2012 – Today, prior to his public engagements, His Holiness the Dalai Lama paid a visit to a group of Gurkha soldiers who are based in Manchester. He paid tribute to the longstanding historical relations between Tibet and Nepal, recalling the role of the Nepalese princess who married King Songtsen Gampo in bringing one of the first Buddha images to Tibet.

He joked that as the main duty of a soldier is to shoot, there wasn’t much for him to say. However, he went on to advise that if they were always honest and truthful, showed others respect and tried whenever they could to help them, they would be good soldiers. He offered them a painting of the Seventeen Masters of Nalanda. Read the rest of this entry »

hh-insegnHis Holiness the DalaiLama: Stand up & Be the Change

Manchester, England, 16 June 2012 – As a light Mancunian drizzle fell outside, His Holiness began the day with a couple of extensive newspaper interviews. In the light of his specifically addressing youth later today, His Holiness was asked what he thought about the riots that took place in Britain last year. He replied,
“When I heard about those riots on the BBC I was surprised. I had always thought of the people of Britain as a mature people, a law abiding people. I wrote to your Prime Minister expressing my concern and suggesting that it was important to really look into the root causes of this violence.” Read the rest of this entry »

Monks at Kirti Monastery. The wave of self-immolations is one of the biggest in modern history.

In Occupied Tibetan Monastery, a Reason for Fiery Deaths

By EDWARD WONG,

DHARAMSALA, India — One young Tibetan monk walked down a street kicking Chinese military vehicles, then left a suicide note condemning an official ban on a religious ceremony. Another smiled often, and preferred to talk about Buddhism rather than politics. A third man, a former monk, liked herding animals with nomads. A Tibetan woman wept during a March protest in India against the visit of the Chinese president. All had worn the crimson robes of Kirti Monastery, a venerable institution of learning ringed by mountains on the eastern edge of the Tibetan plateau. All set themselves on fire to protest Chinese rule. Two died. Read the rest of this entry »

Piazza Tien An Men giugno 1989.

E’ l’anniversario (ventitreesimo) di Piazza Tien An Men.
Giu 1st, 2012 by admin

Read the rest of this entry »
