Livorno, Tuscany, Italy, 14 June 2014 – His Holiness the Dalai Lama was warmly greeted by the Livorno Mayor Filippo Nogarin on his arrival on stage at the Modigliani Forum to begin his morning session of teachings. Pomaia, Tuscany, Italy, 13 June 2014 – This morning His Holiness the Dalai Lama blessed the five meter tall four-arm Chenrezig statue at Lama Tsong Khapa Institute. He praised the craftsmen who built the statue offering scarves in appreciation. Pomaia, Tuscany, Italy, 12 June 2014 – His Holiness the Dalai Lama started the day with an hour-long interview with Mr. Beppe Severgnini, a journalist, essayist and columnist from the largest selling Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera. Afterwards Dr. Dan Goleman – author, psychologist, and science journalist – interviewed His Holiness the Dalai Lama for his new book. Dr. Goleman was with The New York Times for twelve years specializing in psychology and brain sciences. In the afternoon, the Rome based Indian Ambassador to Italy Mr. Basant Kumar Gupta called on His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Dichiarazione riguardante il culto di dogyal shugden

I sottoscritti Centri Buddhisti desiderano esprimere totale fiducia e rispetto verso Sua Santità il Dalai Lama e completo accordo per quanto riguarda la pericolosità della pratica del culto di Dogyal/Shugden.

Dal 1978 Sua Santità il XIV Dalai Lama, in qualità di leader spirituale, ha pubblicamente evidenziato quanto la pratica dello spirito chiamato Dogyal/Shugden sia degenerata al punto da assumere la connotazione di un vero e proprio culto, con forti caratteristiche settarie. Storicamente, i seguaci più fanatici di questo culto sono stati protagonisti di iniziative settarie che sono spesso sfociate in azioni persecutorie e violente nei confronti di altre scuole del buddhismo tibetano. Hanno sempre giocato un ruolo di divisione che ha indebolito l’unità del popolo tibetano e l’armonia tra i praticanti, Non è un mistero che all’interno della Cina, i seguaci di questo culto godano del sostegno dei gruppi più retrivi che si oppongono a qualsiasi dialogo con il Dalai Lama.
