Read the rest of this entry »

Tibet: nuova tragica protesta contro l’occupazione cinese. Nuova autoimmolazione.
Dic 24th, 2017 by admin

His Holiness the Dalai Lama Visit to Tashi Lhunpo Monastery and Convocation at Namdroling Monastery

His Holiness the Dalai Lama addressing Tibetan pilgrims recently arrived from Tibet and Tibetan teachers gathered for a workshop on Secular Ethics in the Sera Lachi Assembly Hall in Bylakuppe, Karnataka, India on December 22, 2017. Photo by Tenzin Choejor

Bylakuppe, Karnataka, India, December 22, 2017 – Addressing Tibetan pilgrims recently arrived from Tibet and Tibetan teachers gathered for a workshop on Secular Ethics in the Sera Lachi Assembly Hall this morning, His Holiness the Dalai Lama declared,

Tibetans in Tibet are the real masters of the country. Despite facing immense hardship, you have kept your spirits up. In 1959, the whole of Tibet was thrown into turmoil. There is a story that after the bombardment of Lhasa, Mao Zedong asked what happened to the Dalai Lama. When he heard that I had escaped to India, he is said to have replied, ‘Then we’ve lost.’”

The Chinese authorities thought the issue of Tibet would simply fade away, but even after 58 years it hasn’t. In 1959, many countries had no idea about Tibet; they do now.

We’ve been in exile 58 years. We’ve created settlements, re-established our centres of learning. All beyond the expectations of tough Chinese officials. Because of the strength of spirit in Tibet, we in exile have been able to survive.

During the cultural revolution there was great destruction of religious institutions in both China and Tibet. However, after Deng Xiaoping eased restrictions there has been a widespread revival of interest. There are said to be 400 million Buddhists in China and Xi Jinping has stated in Paris and Delhi that Buddhism has an important role in Chinese culture. There are good reasons not to be demoralized or downcast.” Read the rest of this entry »

Photo by Lobsang Tsering

Bylakuppe, Karnataka, India, December 21, 2017 – When His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived at Sera-Mey Monastery early this morning he was received by the Abbot, the Ganden Throne-holder, the former Ganden Throne-holder, the Shartse and Jangtse hierarchs, and the Sikyong. A couple of bright Tibetan children in traditional costume were also waiting with a bowl of milk and a box of grain and tsampa to offer a traditional welcome. His Holiness took a pinch of tsampa, dipped his finger in the milk, teased the children and laughed in warm appreciation. At the entrance to the new Debate Courtyard and Science Centre he cut the ribbon and recited verses while tossing grain in the air to invoke auspiciousness. At that back of the daïs at the head of the yard he lit the central wick of a large butter lamp and took his seat on the throne.

In his welcome address, the Abbot of Sera-Mey Monastery explained that in 2012, when His Holiness was staying at Drepung Loseling, he reported to him the difficulties the monastery was facing with their existing debate yard. Monks were exposed to sun in the hot season and rain in the monsoon. His Holiness offered seed money for the project and they began to plan, with the result that the present structure is now complete. He thanked donors and everyone who contributed to the construction, requesting that everyone involved dedicate the merit created to His Holiness’s long life and the success of the studies of the monks who will use the new facility.

Bylakuppe, Karnataka, India, December 20, 2017 – Sera-Jey Monastery is next door to Sera Lachi where His Holiness the Dalai Lama is staying. This morning the longer walk was from the Monastery building through the beginnings of a crowd that eventually grew to more than 15,000. As is his custom, His Holiness stopped on the way to greet old friends and comfort the aged and infirm. Before stepping up onto the daïs at the head of the debate yard, he unveiled a plaque to inaugurate a Special Study Centre, a co-operative project between Sera-Jey Monastery and the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

His Holiness had come early to perform the preparatory rituals and procedures for the Hayagriva Empowerment he was going to give.

Hayagriva is one of a set of deities known as the Eight Pronouncements belonging to the class of Highest Yoga Tantra,” His Holiness explained. “And although there is a tradition in some cases of giving tantric empowerments to groups of no more than 25 people, since the disciples’ main qualification here is faith, I thought it would be good to give the empowerment in public. Hayagriva is a very wrathful aspect of Avalokiteshvara. Tibetans have had a long relationship with Avalokiteshvara and as a result of past prayers and karma I seem to have been involved with fulfilling his wishes. Virtually all the temples built by Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century related to Avalokiteshvara, clearly he has a special connection to Tibet. Read the rest of this entry »

Dic 19th, 2017 by admin

A living Buddha at the Tibetan Uppasilutan Monastery, northeast Qinghai, China, Asia

18 dicembre 2017.

Mundgod, Karnataka, India, 17 dicembre 2017 – An estimated eight thousand people, almost entirely Tibetans and people from the Himalayan regions, gathered to listen to His Holiness the Dalai Lama teach this morning. Monks filled the assembly halls of both Ganden Lachi and Ganden Shartse Monasteries, while the remainder of the crowd spilled out onto the yard outside. Large video displays and towers of loudspeakers allowed them to remain in touch with what was going on inside.

His Holiness took the stairs from his apartment down to the temple where he paid his respects before the enshrined images and greeted the distinguished Lamas before ascending the throne.

Our original plans changed because I caught a cold,” His Holiness explained. “I was tired after the ordinations in Drepung, but today, after a day’s rest, I feel better.

Ganden is the mother monastery of our tradition, founded by Je Tsongkhapa, which Gyalwa Gendun Drup described so well in his ‘Song of the Eastern Snow Mountain’. Read the rest of this entry »

Mundgod, Karnataka, India – Before leaving Drepung Lachi Monastery this morning, His Holiness the Dalai Lama met with pilgrims recently arrived from Tibet. He sat at the top of the steps to the temple while they were gathered in front of him.

The spirit, courage and determination of Tibetans are amazing,” he told them. “I’m very happy to be able to meet you here. I’m not referring just to the last 60 years. Faced with all kinds of hardships since the time of Tri Ralpachen and the fragmentation of the country under Langdarma, Tibetans’ determined spirit has been unwavering throughout. Despite all kinds of political change and other pressures, it remains undiminished. This is something I really want to acknowledge.

Many of you pray I will live long and will soon be able to go home. Of course I want to see Tibet again. And considering how the people of Tibet have kept their spirits up, I want to meet them in person. However, the Chinese authorities haven’t looked on this favourably. They still brand me a ‘reactionary’ intent on undermining their control. If I were just to turn up they might arrest me. Then what would we do? We have to take reality into account. To imagine that just making hopeful prayers will make everything all right is not practical. Read the rest of this entry »

Dic 15th, 2017 by admin

Dear respected elder brothers and sisters, as well as younger brothers and sisters. I like to start in this way because I believe that all 7 billion human beings alive today are our brothers and sisters—all of them deserve our love and compassion.

Just now we’re enjoying ourselves peacefully here, but elsewhere on this very planet other people like us are dying violently and children are starving to death. Natural disasters are beyond our control, but there are problems created by human beings that we have a responsibility to resolve. They come about because we are swayed by destructive emotions. Read the rest of this entry »

Buongiorno, come state? Avete dormito bene? Read the rest of this entry »

S.S. Dalai Lama rinuncia ai viaggi all’estero?
Dic 7th, 2017 by admin

6 dicembre 2017.

Dic 2nd, 2017 by admin

Dic 1st, 2017 by admin

Il Monaco Tengha

30 novembre 2017.

Read the rest of this entry »
